Florida reports 5,511 new cases of COVID-19, smashing record again

As a public service, Shaw Media will provide open access to information related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) emergency.

The Missoula City-County Health Department reported on Wednesday afternoon that the number of cases has jumped to 61. A man in his 70s and a man in his 80s were the latest deaths in McHenry County.

Correction: A previous version of this story included a typo when noting the number of active and inactive cases in Douglas County. In recent weeks, the county has announced its first two outbreaks of COVID-19, and last week announced it would remain in Phase 3 of the reopening process because of rising cases in the area. They were included in the state's count of total cumulative cases released Wednesday morning.

According to the state Department of Health, Florida added 5,508 new positive coronavirus cases and reported another 44 deaths.

In total, the nation now has over 2.3 million cases with over 121,000 deaths. With one additional case confirmed in a resident in their 20s, 11 of the county's 55 cases are in people between the ages of 20-29.

Health officials report there remains community transmission of COVID-19 in Missoula County - meaning there are cases that are unable to be linked with other known cases or travel.
